Four Points on Coach Nashon Walker's Philosophy for A2D Elite Girls Basketball Academy
Here is just a glimpse of some of what Coach Walker’s mentality is as a coach and trainer.
First and foremost, we are empowering young girls to be CONFIDENT and ELITE ON and Off the basketball court, where we are giving girls the best so they can improve to their maximum capability. And that maximum capability is NOT fixed, because their capability increases more and more as they invest more and more into themselves.
A2D Girls Basketball Academy coaching is based on who our girls can become and seeing themselves there NOW, even though they may not have achieved it YET in their current skill development. So, it’s not necessarily based on where they are right now, but who they are becoming and who they are as they achieve and obtain the Elite Status that is desired. Coach Walker looks at who they need to be to achieve Elite Status, and what they need to do to get to where they want to be, which is Elite Status.
Secondly, there are times when this will not be comfortable, but one goal is for our girls to be comfortable about being uncomfortable because many times, it will be uncomfortable to do what it takes to get to the next level toward Elite Status. To get to that next level, we will “Raise the Bar”.. And it will take DISCIPLINE, HARD WORK, COMMITMENT, and the willingness to NEVER QUIT to get to that next level. These are all positive attributes that our girls will develop with A2D Elite Girls Basketball Academy that are certainly valuable both ON and OFF the basketball court.
Thirdly, to achieve these positive attributes as our girls go to their next level toward Elite Status, it will take CONSISTENCY. We encourage our girls to understand that consistent skill development is VERY important. No matter where they are, whether it is during an A2D training session, or elsewhere, it is important to get their reps in consistently, especially on the foundational skills. Even if it is only 10 or 15 minutes minutes a day, or an hour, or every other day, it is important to get reps in consistently. To be Elite, the school season and practices are not enough. You must go the extra mile to consistently perfect your craft.
And for the fourth point, while being consistent in the work, it is also important to BE PATIENT!! The philosophy of change happens over time, NOT overnight. We want our girls to be the best and THEY WILL BE as long as they continue to put in the work toward achieving ELITE status. However, it does take time to develop. So, BE PATIENT! As you are patient, you will see the work that is being invested begin to produce fruit and continue to produce more and more.. You will see glimpses of improvement here and there, which will add up over time, and consistency in the right actions will eventually develop skills to mastery.
